Now accepting new clients!
Growing up as a bicultural kid in the melting pot of Miami, Jennie’s love of storytelling began with quiet evenings at home listening to her grandmother share stories about her life in Cuba. Jennie later sought a career in the film industry and earned a Bachelor’s degree in English, Religious Studies, and Film from Florida International University.
Her dreams were shattered after an unexpected diagnosis and 10+ years of chronic illness and medical trauma that followed. Facing pain outside of her control, Jennie went searching for a deeper healing that goes beyond physical suffering but can reach the soul. Through this process, she discovered how essential it was to be surrounded by safe people while in pain and through enduring life circumstances.
Becoming a counselor was never her plan, but the hope she found in soul care and her love for the people within the stories led her to get a Master of Arts in Counseling at Reformed Theological Seminary. Jennie believes that we are not broken, but burdened and that our greatest need is to be liberated from the pain, shame, and fear that keep us trapped. She believes that our greatest desire is to love freely and be loved unashamedly within the embrace of a safe community. She understands that past and present experiences prevent us from living truly free.
Through a relational and client-centered approach, Jennie seeks to create a safe environment for her clients, leaning on trust and the wisdom of the mind, body, and spirit as a pathway to healing and living free. She believes that what clients bring to the process is just as important as her own training and experiences. Her work has centered around providing soul care to individuals suffering from relational trauma, chronic illness, and those burdened by unwanted sexual struggles.
Outside of counseling, Jennie loves immersing herself in new experiences with friends and loved ones by traveling or learning tactile skills such as painting, throwing clay, and photography. She’s also a big film nerd and not a stranger to movie references.
